Alison “Beautiful heritage palace hotel with great charm and service, but in need of maintenance”

A beautiful traditional palace, thoughtfully redecorated to preserve its period charm. Our room was lovely, with traditional furnishings and fabrics that felt in keeping with the era, along with a stunning bathroom. However, I do feel the cleanliness and general maintenance of the property let it down. The pool — which is a key selling feature — was not clean or clear, and the reception area needed a much better level of upkeep. As the first impression of the hotel, the front of house really sets the tone. That said, I would still recommend staying here for its historical appeal, beautiful décor, and impressive antiques. The staff were also very welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay.

Lovely room, full of charm and history. Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was good and the lovely gentleman who served us was wonderful each morning
