“Absolutely wonderful, relaxing time that we want to repeat, but next time for 5 nights.”

This is a hidden gem! We were so pleased that we decided to stay here. We came for two nights, stayed three, and would have stayed more but ran out of time. We will be back next year. The hosts are wonderful - nothing is a problem and they speak reasonable English, with their teenage son speaking well. We ate all our meals here - breakfast, lunch and dinner - and our children (aged 15 - 4) very much enjoyed the menu, especially the hand-cut chips, honey banana pancakes, sausages, eggs, noodles and the delicious fruit juices and smoothies. The location is fantastic. The little fishing village is super cute and reasonably quiet. The homestay is right across from the beach which is very safe for children. The family restaurant is between the homestay and the beach and is a lovely spot to sit and eat meals. There is a row of restaurants and homesteads all along the Main Street and there is a good atmosphere at night with lots of people out eating and drinking until quite late. We arrived on the island with 8 of us, and 8 carry on suitcases and a pushchair. The host had organised our boat tickets. We got to the main port and had no idea how we were getting to the village. But, out of nowhere, there were 6 scooter drivers and we all piled on scooters, two people and one suitcase on each, and off we went! It was quite an experience and very memorable. We went on a snorkling trip booked through the host. We have a family of 8 so we were taken out in 3 Coconut Boats by local guys who paddled us to a snorkling spot about 20 mins away. It was very reasonably priced, only costing AUD$35 all together. The kids enjoyed the snorkling and there was coral and some fish, but if you're looking for top snorkling it might be disappointing. There isn't much to do on the island as much of the costal road is off limits.

“Superb”

We stayed as a family of 3 and loved our time staying with Lyly & Hanh. Great food, nice relaxing vibe. We stayed for 3 days and rented scooters from the homestay to get around & visit other parts of the island. Nice snorkelling place nearby that Hanhs Dad can row you too in a beautiful round boat. Best of all was the celebrating Hanhn’s birthday with his family, friends & other guests! A truly wonderful stay & we hope Bai Huong keeps the village & family vibe & doesnt become overrun by tourism as most of these coastal gems become.

“A perfect island stay with wonderful hosts.”

A three day stay with the Hanh Ly Homestay in a beautiful little fishing village that proved to be an unforgettable experience. Boat transfers and scooter hire was arranged by Ly Ly which made for an easy start to our stay. The scooter was waiting at the wharf for us and we followed one of the friendly villagers to the home stay. The roads are sealed, there are no cars and only a few scooters once you get out of the main port town, so it was safe and easy to navigate. Hanh, Ly Ly and parents welcomed us like family and we were treated exceptionally well. We had the front room on the first floor. Our room had a fan, air conditioning and hot water and we slept well each night. The food and drinks were great, especially the fresh fish, seafood and coffee. Despite it being an island with most food needing to be brought in by boat, the prices of the meals were very reasonable. Having a scooter meant that we could explore the island, especially the beautiful beaches. On the northern beach, Bai Bac we had the beach to ourselves. There is a very small fee that goes towards beach maintenance, and beach chairs, food and drinks are available on the beaches. Just outside the home stay is the beach and a large community area where village life goes on around you; fishing net making/repairing, herbal tea chopping and drying, families eating, children swimming and playing, fishing boats coming and going, happy chatter, afternoon siestas, deck chairs and hammocks for relaxing, a safe beach for swimming, and the odd cheeky monkey trying its luck! We had one very special evening to celebrate Hanh’s birthday. With his family, friends, and the other guests we celebrated in style … a feast of local dishes, celebratory drinks, cake and to finish off, karaoke which was so much fun. If you want a relaxing authentic experience in beautiful surroundings then we can highly recommend staying with Hanh, Ly Ly and their family at Hanh Ly Homestay.
