“Peaceful and beautiful place”
16 Jan 2025
It’s inside an Estate which has animals roaming around. You’re allowed to do a game drive or a walk. It’s a pity we only stayed for just one night. It’s an amazing place, so peaceful and beautiful at the same time.

“Absolutely wonderful and more.”

Call of the Wild was absolutely beautiful to stay at. It felt like a home away from home. Hosts Deon and Sue were so welcoming and helpful. The staff was efficient and friendly. The rooms are beautifully appointed with a lovely deck to sit on and watch the local wildlife go past. I would return to stay there in a heartbeat..

“Perfect for pre-safari trip”

Clean, quiet and wildlife at doorstep. The host graciously offered to order dinner for us as we did not have a phone or car

We couldn't wish for more. Sue and Deon made our stay memorable with this beautiful place located in the middle of a Wildlife Estate (which is a closed areal with properties and nature with wild animals). Bush walks in this beautiful area can be started immediately behind the lodge and it is totally safe as no dangerous animals are around (we saw Giraffs, Impalas, Gazelles, Warthogs and many beautiful birds). Our room was fantastic and equipped with all we needed. Breakfast is made with love and very delicious. Deon and Sue helped us to arrange a tour at the Hoedspruit Endangered Specifies Center and had great recommendations for restaurants close by. Next time we'll stay longer and can highly recommend this place.

“Perfect room for short stay on the edge of the bush. Car essential to get to restaurants for dinner”

Amazing location in private reserve where it’s safe to walk and see animals. Lovely breakfast served. Room comfortable and enjoyed the outdoor shower

We enjoyed the welcome drink, the suggestions given by the host but mostly the fact they you have giraffes, nyalas and springboks roaming freely in the property. It felt like you were still in the Kruger National Park! Also, the lodge was in a safe neighbourhood and not too far from the airport (by car).

“Will definitely be back.......”

Near two Kruger entrances. This gay-friendly accommodation, is set in a wonderful forested area. The grounds are just magical. This was our favourite accommodation on our 5 week trip to southern Africa. We loved this place so much that we kept adding on extra nights. The hosts were wonderful here. Very kind and friendly. They were excellent at communicating with us, before and during our stay. They knew exactly how to treat their guests, being there for their guests without invading their guests space. They couldn't have been better. And their staff are great too. Check-in was very pleasant and quick. The accommodation is set in a very private and secure area. As the owner said himself, it's the 'safest place in South Africa', and it certainly felt like it. There is plenty of space for parking your car securely. Our room had a nice small patio outside for enjoying the sounds and sights of nature outside. The rooms even have a great divide outside, which adds to the privacy. The room itself was lovely. It was extremely clean with a very comfortable bed. And with lovely large glass patio doors, to look out at nature from the comfort of your bed, There was tea-making facilities and also a mini bar should you require other treats. Wifi coverage was very good too. The bathroom was very clean and nice, with plenty of toiletries, but the crown of the jewel was the outdoor shower. It had great power and an ample amount of hot water. It was so lovely to be showering there under the night skies as the warthog snored beside you, or in the morning watching the wildlife foraging in the forest just beyond. It felt like we were part of nature. It was so nice to wake up to see Kudu, Nyala, Impala, etc. roaming around the garden as you ate your breakfast. Speaking of which, for breakfast, the hosts made a fantastic effort to accommodate our vegan diet for breakfast. They wanted to ensure we were well fed. Will definitely stay here again.

Amazing place within a beautiful location. Owners are very kind and welcoming and there are also plenty of wild animals just at the doorstep. Would definitely go back without a doubt.

“Lovely stay in Hoedspruit.”

There were lots of animals to view. Breakfast was very nice. Very clean linen, and stylish interior.

“Unique, spacious suites, delicious breakfasts, four legged neighbours, what more could you want.”

Five minutes drive from great coffee and galleries, with nyala, warthogs, bush babies and more as neighbours, Call of the Wild is a unique lodge, in a secure estate. Homemade lemonade to welcome us, great staff, lovely breakfast by the pool, spacious, comfortable suites. Loved it, thank you.
