Featuring free Wi-Fi throughout, a coin launderette and a shared-use kitchen, the entirely non-smoking J Hoppers Guesthouse is a 10-minute walk to the Atomic Bomb Dome. Opened in 2006, it has simple air-conditioned rooms with shared bathrooms.
Guests at J Hoppers Hiroshima Guesthouse can sleep in a bunk bed in a dormitory-style room, or experience a private Japanese room with traditional bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. Towels can be rented, and the dorm room has lockers.
The hostel is a 3-minute walk from Dobashi Tram Station and a 5-minute walk to Peace Memorial Park. Miyajima Island, with the famous Itsukushima Shrine, is a 45-minute tram ride away. Bicycle hire is possible.
The lounge has an LCD TV with international channels, as well as free coffee/tea. Luggage can be stored and a free-use internet PC is provided. Guests can hang out on the roof terrace.
No meals are served. The free-use kitchen includes a microwave, toaster, rice cooker, cooking utensils, and tableware.

The staff is skeletal but they are responsive, which is great. My stay was marred by a loud phone conversation by a guest next door who could still be heard when she moved down to the reception and it was past 10pm. I left my luggage in the storeroom after checking out, and was aghast to find that someone had left his or her smelly sweat-soaked shoes in the room and my luggage smelled the same! Luckily the staff left some disinfectant lying around so I used it to get rid of the smell. This is my second stay here I love the area. I probably won't stay here again as the experience is a hit or miss.

Had a private room for 2. Right amount of space, lovely tatami, and futon very comfortable. Hiroshima is very walkable and travelling was very convenient from here. Tram stop just a couple minutes away to get you back to the station too.
