Frances “Fabulous stay in a ryokan in Hida”

A really wonderful experience. The ryokan is set by the river with the red bridge and is welcoming and special from arrival. The staff, Rumi and Keito met us and explained everything. There are 3 rooms. We had the ground level one. Superb. With its own onsen. The other two rooms are lovely but both have stairs up to the bedroom. They share the public onsen. The beds are comfortable the pyjamas and yakata lovely to wear. We wore them to dinner! The included dinner , Kaiseki style, was fabulous. Many little courses reflecting local foods presented beautifully. We all loved it. Breakfast is Japanese style food which may not be for everyone but we loved it.
