The fine print
Heron Island is accessible by boat and helicopter from Gladstone. The boat transfer will depart Gladstone Marina for Heron Island at 09:30 daily, except Tuesdays and Thursdays. The return boat transfer will depart from Heron Island at 12:45 daily, except Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Heron Islander will not be operating on Christmas Day, 25 December. The cost of the transfer on the Heron Islander is AU $99 per adult each way and AU $80 per child each way. Please contact the Heron Island Reservations Team to book your boat transfer or inquire about the cost of a scenic helicopter transfer. Please note there is no mobile phone coverage on Heron Island. An Environmental Management Charge (EMC) of AU $8 per person per day (for guests 5 years and older) to a maximum of AU $24 per person per stay will be charged direct to guests. Price is subject to change.Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

We were so fortunate to have 3 days of exceptional weather which made for great snorkelling. Loved the daily boat trip out to good snorkel spots and Tyson (our guide) took great care to ensure all were comfortable and safe. The underwater experience was magical with turtles, sharks, and so much more beautiful colour. So appreciate the work being done to protect the environment and the wildlife . Loved the way the staff provide information and explanations regarding certain requests for respect for nature. I imagine this could be a first for some. All the staff were helpful and willing to sort any confusion. Loved walking over the island to snorkel on our own at different spots and sitting outside at the bar delighting in the whales passing by. M Appreciated the quiet times to read and play cards. The buffet breakfast was excellent and would meet all needs.

A fantastic place to visit and learn about the barrier reef. It was breathtaking to be able to swim with the turtles, rays , sharks and array of fish. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable and the food was very tasty. The reception staff were very friendly and the island activity staff were amazingly knowledgeable about the reef and it's inhabitants. This was a very special place to come and visit!
