The hotel has helpful and friendly staff and has a relaxing and comfortable lounge/bar/restaurant areas to wind down the day in. I enjoyed a couple of nice beers one evening in the lounge with a book in hand and felt like I was right at home The menu has a good choice of meals available as well as drinks from the bar. There is also a really good deal they do with guests in that if you do not need your room cleaning in the morning (if staying more than one night) then you get a free drink at the bar (thumbs up for me).

Charming hotel ideally located in Helmsley village. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the room itself was clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast. All in all a nice base for my 3 day walking holiday.

The best thing about our stay was the service received from the young girl in the restaurant. She was lovely and very personable and helpful. She was on Friday evening, Saturday morning and Sunday morning. She was petite and wore glasses and should be highly praised for her service. The building is a nice one, although could do with a sympathetic refresh throughout. An area with comfy seating would have been very welcome. Our bedroom was large and the bed was very comfortable. We had no outside noise, it was a nice quiet room. It was comfortable.
