Location. Nice place to relax after 3 days in Reykjavik. Bed comfortable. Staff very friendly and offer first class service.

Arriving at the Hotel Ranga felt exciting - driving through the gates, the vast expanse of beautiful scenery and sense of remoteness. The hotel feels cosy, rustic and authentic - if a little dated. The rooms backed onto two hot tubs which we made good use of - running from the room through the snow to the hot tub where we soaked in the scenery from the warmth of the tub. The restaurant was excellent, staff were very attentive and flexible - the kids could eat from the bar menu in the main restaurant, they let us sit at the tables before service to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets. The observatory was fun - navigating your way through the snow in the dark, following the red lights and being given a private tour of the skies. We saw the Northern Lights twice during our stay - the Aurora wake up service was great.

Breakfast was great and included. Dinner was exceptional, but expensive! However, this is Iceland so sort of par for the course.
