Excellent and friendly staff-my arrival was delayed but when I rang the Samuel Pepys there was no answer, however, they rang me back and arranged a later check-in. Full size television not the usual small wall-mounted set. Fresh towels every day. Sunday breakfast was not served later as in many hotels. Two bottles of water and a small packet of biscuits provided every day.

Car parking was good in tiny streets. Welsome was excellent and bar looked nice. Breakfast was cooked fresh and plentiful. Very (very!) close to sea front and local 'attractions' including the LV18 light ship used as 'pirate' radio station and local history forts and protections

Ideally situated for anybody looking at docks,and Shotley ferry, Close to railway station, and a lovely menu and meals while staying. Well recommended,rooms nicely done out decorated and tiled en suite single.

The breakfast was very elaborate. Besides the traditional Enlish breakfast, there were also cerials, yogurt and fresh fruit.
