We've stayed in Meritel for two nights in May and it was pretty good. Hotel is situated on a busy street, few minutes walk from the train street. The had a junior suite and the room was nice and clean, there was a wardrobe and space to unpack the suitcase. The pool at the rooftop is small and there is only few sunbeds available. The rooftop bar is lovely and cocktails are delicious, bartenders know what they're doing. All staff are very friendly and helpful, especially I'd like to highlight the support from Linh during our stay, he has recommended us some great cafes, places to see and offered help with getting tickets to some local attractions. The whole hotel is very clean and it smells great everywhere.

We only spent in Hanoi 2 nights but we were extremely happy with our choice of hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean and location perfect - inside the old quarter. The best part of our stay was Anh, a lovely receptionist that did our check in and then sent us recommendations for the following day (including train street timelines and most importantly reserved 2 seats at the Puppet Show for us - thank you so much!!)
