The proprietor is so lovely and goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. Breakfast was so delicious (esp the onsen tamago!) and the small changes we asked for were accommodated. Dinner was also well-priced and delicious. The western style room we stayed in was large with a lot of room for luggage, clothes. The onsen was a delight after a long day on the slopes, esp having one of the pools outside. The coin laundry was super useful for mid week washes and the clothes dried quickly overnight in the room. The hotel is a 8ish min walk to Nakiyama slopes and is near the bus station, Rhythm rental, and many restaurants at night. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

First time staying at Hakuba Alpine Hotel, and it definitely won’t be our last. This will absolutely be our go-to place whenever we’re back in Hakuba. The hotel is owned by a wonderful gentleman whose family has run it for over 100 years, and you can really feel the care and pride in the way it’s operated. He was incredibly accommodating and even helped us book a taxi to the station on our last day when it was early and too icy to walk. The location is fantastic — most things are within walking distance, including Happo-One Ski Resort, plenty of great restaurants, Lawson’s, the bus terminal, and more dining options nearby. Breakfast was generous and kept us full for hours, and the onsen was the perfect way to relax after a long day on the slopes. We stayed in a tatami room — the mattress was a little thin, but it was all part of the experience and we made do. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would happily return again. Highly recommend.
