The staff did welcome us heartly. Their English was basic, just like my Japanese, but it was easy to check in. We got a letter that explained the breakfast and dinner times and location. As well as the times when baths are for men and women. The room was clean and comfortable. The rooms look better what the outside of the inn might imply, but on the way to the onsen, I saw way worse. I definitely enjoyed the hotel and will come again.

We had a private hot spa bath in the room, it was perfection and a great bonus after trekking round Tokyo for the last five days. We loved the staff and their friendliness and the bus to and from Hakone station was very useful. The whole hotel was very clean and we had an incredible meal at the restaurant.

The staff went above and beyond to look after us, everyone was very kind and did their best to accommodate our poor Japanese. May have been the time of year but there were very few other english speaking guests around we saw so it was great of them to facilitate us. In built private bath was fantastic and the food offered left little to be desired

The Onsen is amazing and you are spoiled for choice if you opt for the half board package - for a family of 5 having this much choice at breakfast and dinner in our first visit to Japan was totally worth it! The ability to book private family bath was also a plus we all enjoyed. The location is great to explore Owakudani and do the lake Ashi trip. I strongly recommend staying two nights for proper relaxation time!
