We had one of the superior rooms with a spring bath tub in the porch and it was fantastic. The room itself had western style beds which were very comfy, breakfast and dinner i(ncluded) were both buffets with plenty for even fussy eaters, (of which I am). Well situated near to the cable cars and ropeways, we really enjoyed our stay.

The location was great, the staff were all very friendly and eager to help with anything. The buffet dinner offered an extensive variety of food and everything was delicious. They had complimentary drinks and snacks available in the hall and unlimited free ice cream. The 2 onsen are rotated daily between men's and women's so we got to experience both the infinity pool and the one at the bottom of the waterfall. The infinity pool one offers great views of the sunrise. Definitely worth the price!

The room was great! A big comfortable bed, great shower and a nice balcony. My favorite part was the outside bath that was filled with hot water within minutes. The staff was very nice and helpful. My husband loved the outdoor onsen.

I recently stayed at Hakone Kowakien Tenyu and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Nestled in the beautiful Hakone mountains, the setting alone is worth the visit—peaceful, scenic, and the perfect escape from the city. The standout feature has to be the onsen facilities. The open-air baths, especially the infinity-style ones overlooking the forest, are absolutely stunning and incredibly relaxing. It felt like a true traditional Japanese experience, but with a luxurious, modern twist. The rooms were spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed with a blend of contemporary comfort and Japanese aesthetics. Having a private onsen bath on the balcony was a real highlight and made the stay feel extra special. Dinner was served buffet-style, but far exceeded expectations. The quality and variety of the food were excellent, with a mix of Japanese and international options, all beautifully presented. Breakfast was equally impressive and set us up perfectly for the day. Service throughout the hotel was exceptional—staff were polite, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect. Overall, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu is the ideal place to unwind and experience the best of Japanese hospitality. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hakone, whether for a romantic getaway or a relaxing break.
