The apartment was stylish and had everything we needed. I loved the bath and the bathroom was great looking into a small garden which was private. It was in a good location close to the main temple in Gion but also walkable into the main shopping precinct and food market.

The location is very good and the Machiya House is very clean , facilities is wonderful , futon bed is nice to sleep too. The check in staff was very nice and friendly .

Good location, about 7 minute walk from the bus stop and about 10 from the nearest station. We came in prepared that this was a Machiya and not a hotel so we’re aware about the amenities and room services being a bit different. Being able to send our luggage from the reception to our home was great! The support for luggage forwarding was also fantastic. Reception was very responsive throughout. The vibe and experience in the room was lovely and the interiors were good. Kitchen amenities were great! Lots of cute independent shops around the street and we were only 15 minutes by foot from Kiyomizu-dera. Gion was 4 stops away by bus.

We decided to stay at this place cause it was a traditional Japanese home. And that was spot on. It was a cosy little place with two bedrooms - one in Japanese style, the other in Western style. Both were super cool and comfortable. The localisation also met our expectations. The staff at the reception were super friendly and helpful. The house was quiet and comfortable. It had a big bathroom as well. Overall, I can only recommend the place; it is a perfect alternative to a regular hotel for sure.
