Staying at Guesthouse Gamli Bær was one of the most heartwarming travel experiences I've ever had. The owner is an exceptional host—his genuine hospitality and personal attention to every guest truly make you feel like you're part of something special. He puts incredible care into creating a welcoming, homely atmosphere that brings people together from all over the world. Mornings start with a simple yet lovely breakfast, where all the guests gather around the table and share stories, setting the tone for a day full of warmth and connection. In the afternoon, there's delicious coffee served with homemade jam, cream, and wafers—a cozy treat that feels like it came straight from a loving grandmother’s kitchen. But perhaps the most memorable part of each day is the evening meal: a humble soup with bread, shared family-style at a long table. It’s nothing fancy, but the simplicity is its charm. Everyone comes together in the best possible way—talking, laughing, connecting. It feels less like a guesthouse and more like a home away from home. I can’t recommend Gamli Bær enough for anyone looking to experience true Icelandic hospitality and heartfelt community. An absolute gem.
