We liked the location, the staff and the quality of the cooking in particular. Staff were friendly and obliging - nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellently cooked and very nicely presented. Portions are generous, too. The location couldn't be better and our whole stay felt very civilised.

The hotel has recently changed hands and the new owners are working hard to provide a good experience but naturally it takes some time to get the property up to the right standard. The staff were exceptionally helpful. Dinner was of a very high standard and good value for the quality of food that was offered. The location is great for exploring the local area and near enough to have a day in Edinburgh. Accept that it slight flawed at the moment and support a family business by choosing to stay there.
