Fabulous old Quinta Great location being slightly out of the main hub. Lovely pool and gardens All the geckos! Super host with helpful information particularly around car hire. Great bakery and grocery store nearby

We were impressed with the house itself and our studio was very tastefully done with almost everything you could want and Helena our wonderful host was very happy to provide anything else. She welcomed us warmly on arrival and then did all she could to make sure we enjoyed our stay which we did very much - she even allocated part of the beautiful gardens to us for our private use. The views are fantastic from the gardens and the pool and it's surroundings are very good with comfy sun loungers. The walk to the old town is quite steeply downhill though enjoyable but we mainly got the bus back which stopped right outside the property. Even though the road is so near we were surprised how quiet and peaceful the site was.

Quiet location. Lots of space to sit out and a great pool to swim in. Have a massive comfy bed and apartment was so spacious. Also had bottle of wine and home made cake which was a lovely touch.

Peaceful location on the whole, there are a few local dogs that like to have doggy conversations on occasions but we didn’t find it to annoying. We had breakfast outside every morning listening to the birds and most of our meals when we were there at meal times. Nothing was too much trouble anything we asked for was provided. Helena the host and Carla the maid who we met on arrival were so friendly and helpful. Helena makes a wonderful cake that just melts in the mouth. The apartment was adequately furnished with a small kitchenette and separate bathroom. Sizeable garden and pool area. Although we had a hire car there is a bus stop a few paces from the gate, if you have Google maps clicking on any bus stop will bring up the route number and further clicks will provide a route map. We didn’t use the buses on this trip but they are very reliable and run early till fairly late depending on the route. There are also plenty of taxis both are cheap The centre of Funchal is less than a mile away so easy to walk in to town and back, if you have the legs for it. The main highway network and multiple tunnels allow easy travel to the majority of the island, but some of the junctions can be a little daunting, as are the smaller roads that can be as much as 1 in 1 or 100% seriously steep. You need a decent car with good brakes and know how to do hill starts. Bear in mind Madeira is steep volcanic island pretty much everywhere is on a hill that includes the majority of the smaller roads.
