The view over the city to the sea is fabulous. The terrace is a good size. The apartment is very smart and well equipped. The furniture is quite comfortable. I could happily live there, if it was easier to go to the local shops and restaurants. .

Akira and his wife were very helpful and easy to contact and they showed us round the apartment making sure that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had a lovely balcony with plenty of seating choices. There was an underground garage for parking which was great and across the road there was a lovely pool which we had to ourselves most times we went down there. You get good views over the city and down to the harbour and in the evening it was pleasant watching the sun setting. We walked down to the main tourist areas several times which takes about 15 minutes and even walked back up which is very hilly and takes longer, but we didn't mind this though most people would probably get a taxi.

We loved our stay at this luxurious apartment in Funchal. We opted to take a taxi organised by the owner from the airport. A 15-minute drive later we were there - just inland from the centre. The property is a ten minute walk from the centre and coast - all downhill. There is an abundance of atmosphere in the city, which is steeped with history and wonderful eateries. We chose to eat out and explore during the day and spent the later afternoons and evenings on the balcony overlooking the port. For us, everything we needed was provided - from a made-up bed to cooking utensils as well as everything in between. We intend to return!

Honestly, in our opinion this is THE place to stay in Funchal. Akira the host is an absolute gentleman, nothing is too much trouble and he's a pleasure to talk to. The apartment is a home from home, you'll want for nothing. It's a perfect place to stay and enjoy.
