We had quite a lot of luggage, but the hotel kindly allowed us to check in earlier than the official time. The view of the city and the square in front of Funchal’s cathedral was absolutely wonderful! The reception staff were attentive and welcoming. Breakfast was simple yet tasty, included in the price, and had a lovely atmosphere. The hotel team was always ready to help – for example, if you need a kettle, you can just ask at the reception. I would happily stay a few more nights in this hotel, enjoying its atmospheric rooms with beautiful views of the narrow streets of old Funchal.

We enjoyed staying at Hotel Catedral just for a night to rest and get a taxi the next day to go by boat to Porto Santo. The location was convenient. The room was spacious and the staff was very nice offering us the possibility of having breakfast before the opening time because we had to leave very early. That was kind and we appreciated.

Location is about a 45-second walk to the marina, very convenient. Breakfast was ok, great scrambled eggs, but the bacon was very soft and cooked only a little, was not a fan of the sausages (there again, that just might be how Portugal does it). They had a large selection of tea's coffees, fruit, bread, butter, etc, which was great for a different selection. It was a lovely atmosphere in the evenings hearing live music being played most nights when you're on the balcony. It was very relaxing. Also the staff were very friendly and always willing to help. Big shout out to Monica and Cristina :)
