La Fontaine Boutique Hotel is a magnificent gem that beautifully blends history, charm, and modern comfort. Built in the early 1900s as a girl’s school boarding house, the property exudes timeless elegance, with colourful Colonial-inspired décor that tells a story of bygone days. Each of our rooms felt thoughtfully curated, offering both luxury and warmth. its exceptional service and attentive staff. From the moment we arrived, the team welcomed us like family and impressed us with their vast knowledge of local wine farms, restaurants, and excellent recommendations of things to see and do in the valley. A special mention goes to Michaela, whose genuine care ensured my daughters and I had everything we needed for a comfortable and memorable stay. She didn’t miss a thing and went above and beyond. Manager Kim was equally wonderful, with a calm, capable presence that kept everything running seamlessly. The little touches at La Fontaine elevate the experience from wonderful to unforgettable. The turndown service with hot water bottles, seamless booking of excursions, and the beautifully framed Rachel’s letter—dated March 1903, discovered during renovations, and now displayed in ‘Rachel’s Bar’—reflect the hotel’s thoughtfulness. These details create a warm, personal connection, making it feel like a home away from home. Thank you Michaela, Kim and staff for your hospitality. We’ll be back soon!

Superb hotel. From the minute you arrive you feel at home. The place itself is beautiful and superbly located. A major shout out to the staff who were all fantastic. We loved every minute of our visit and I cannot recommend it highly enough. 11/10.

Staff are super. Breakfast sets you up for the day! Coming back to a fire burning in the bar is lovely.
