Philip “Lovely spot for a romantic long weekend…”

The location was fantastic—a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Birmingham. It was so quiet, making it the perfect base for day trips to Symonds Yat and the Forest of Dean. Waking up to birdsong was a treat, but the real surprise was looking out the window and spotting some alpacas! The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to cook up a storm. On our last day, we had a great chat with our hosts, who were incredibly helpful in suggesting places to visit on our way back to the Midlands (as well as spots to avoid!). Following their recommendations, we took a short trip to Redbrook, where we visited the picturesque Boat Inn and tried some local cider. From there, we headed to Monmouth for a stroll before stopping at Alex Gooch, a plant-based café, for lunch. Highly recommended! 🫶

House has been beautifully decorated with still keeping all the rustic features. Everything you could have needed was in the house, with a few extras such as biscuits, milk etc. lovely touch! Hosts were all very welcoming and friendly. House is situated in a very peaceful and tranquil area with the bonus of not being too far for other locations to visit. Fantastic stay and would happily recommend and stay again in the future.

Absolutely perfect accommodation and welcoming hosts. The barn has everything you could need for a trip in the country and is immaculate. The location is quiet, ideal for walks around Flaxley and the surrounding areas. The Forest of Dean is a short drive away and we got many tips from the hosts where to go to make the most of our trip.
