The Cunene river between Namibia and Angola is an awesome river and has loads of natural beauty all along it, coupled to great birdlife. What hits you first at Epupa is the noise, the noise of water cascading over the falls, an ever present din that makes the concept of white noise redundant, but also ensures a deep sleep! The rooms are all double story with room for your vehicle below - this aids in great views over the river and highlights the spray from the falls themselves - in our case, right outside our room! Viewed from the lodge, the falls are not that impressive, the river simply disappears into a crevice - but take a walk a few minutes downstream and you see the falls in all their splendour, simply magnificent. The rooms essentially have flaps which you fold down, creating an open vista onto the river and falls, the best wide-screen entertainment you could ever hope to have. Very comfortable with everything needed. The food is cooked onsite by the chef, one of a small but excellent staff, always happy to help with whatever they can. We elected to go on a guided birding walk and John, the guide, proved most knowledgeable not just about the local birdlife, but also the flora, local natural medicines and the traditions of the local Himba people. Certainly worth at least one return visit.

The staff were exceptional. Loved the location, literally 300m walk to a better view of the falls. Dinner and breakfast was included in the price and we can recommend the Oryx fillet which was tasty and tender. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Shower had great pressure and fans in rooms really helped for the 33 degree heat during the night. It would be nice if there was something to allow fresh cool air in while.keeping mosquitos and possible snakes out at windows. I think our room would've been cooler if we could leave windows open. Mosquito nets were great, we were just worried about larger animals entering.

The lodge is located at the perfect point that gives you a great view to Epupa falls. Our room was great with a view to thw river and we enjoyed sleeping with the sound of the falls. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and make your stay at the lodge even more enjoyable. The food we had there was also really good.
