The Spice Lodge is in a beautiful location. Up on the side of a hill looking over the valley and mountains. It is located near the base of the track to Little Adams Peak which is handy but the Lodge is very quiet with a pretty garden. The owner designed it himself. It is very creatively decorated and extremely comfortable with a private patio for your breakfast and just relaxing. The breakfasts are delicious. There is a tea/coffee station and bar fridge in the room for convenience. The owner’s mother and sister live next door and offer an excellent hands-on cooking class which you get to enjoy eating afterwards. This is a stunning place to stay and we were sad to leave. The host Kamal was so friendly and helpfull. He gave us advice about the activities we could do around Ella, was always available, gave us a ride to the tea factory and even helped us planning our next stop in Sri Lanka. We also took a cooking class with Kamals mother and sister and this was a great experience. They were really nice, we felt so welcome and the food we cooked was delicious. The room was nice and clean with a big bed. The view from the room is amazing.

The property was very well located for Little Adam’s Peak and the Nine Arches bridge, just a little way out of the main street of Ella (but an easy walk, and really peaceful). Kamal was so accommodating and kind. We really enjoyed our stay.
