This is a lovely, spacious, well-equipped apartment in a working winery. And it's only 15 minutes walk from Durnstein, one of the loveliest spots in the Wachau valley. The owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful, we ended up wine-tasting their (top class!) wines downstairs on our last evening. As we were the only guests (I believe they have 3-4 apartments) it felt very secluded and private.

Our stay at Weingut Baurel was absolutely wonderful! The owners are incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful – they truly go above and beyond to make sure guests feel at home. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. The accommodation was perfect – very spacious, spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable. Everything was tastefully decorated with great attention to detail. The bed was cozy, the bathroom modern and pristine, and the whole place felt peaceful and inviting. The location is stunning – surrounded by vineyards, with beautiful nature all around. It’s the ideal spot to relax, explore the Wachau region, and of course, enjoy some fantastic local wines. There are many wineries nearby, and the train station is just a short walk away, making it easy to explore without a car. Weingut Baurel is a hidden gem in Wachau, offering authentic charm, comfort, and a truly memorable experience. We can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and genuine stay in this beautiful part of Austria.

Excellent location on the Danube. Beautiful walks or cycles along the river just outside the front door. View of river from the room. Lovely hosts and really enjoyed our wine tasting with Wolfgang. Probably need a car on the off season as no local restaurants available? But easy to cook a meal in the excellent kitchen, which is what we had planned. Overall, highly recommend.

A spacious modern apartment, very clean & comfortable; well equipped for self-catering. Well located for walks through the vineyards & the hills, and for easy walks to both Durnstein & Unterloiben. An easy drive to Melk Abbey, which you should visit if you haven't previously done so. The owners were very friendly, welcoming & helpful. We particularly enjoyed our wine tasting with Wolfgang who is justifiably proud of the wines he produces. Tip: If you are staying during summer, I recommend you request the north facing apartment overlooking the village, not the river.
