Lynne “Beautifully peaceful and private holiday gite to rest and relax.”

We loved the quiet, peaceful and private location. The gite was tucked away in its own little world yet it didn’t feel at all remote nor isolated. The nearest town was just a nice distance away and we used it as a base which fulfilled all our needs. It had a small supermarket and patisserie. Sandra is a very intelligent and helpful host. She went far and above to help us, gave us a complimentary bottle of wine from the vineyard next door, a pot of delicious homemade jam and offered to have us shown around the vineyard. She was interesting, fluent in several languages and had a wonderful idea for detail. The gite was furnished and decorated very tastefully which made it pleasant. All crockery and cutlery, kitchen tools etc were quality too. The bed was big and comfortable, the shower was forceful and the swimming pool was superb. We have no hesitation in recommending this gite or host to any discerning traveller. We shall be back.

The apartment was very quiet in a pretty area overlooking a small valley . Within 5 mins of Duras and20 mins of Eymet where we had most of our meals. The kitchen is well equipped, even had a small cafetière (!) which we used daily. There was a nice pool too but alas the weather was a little cool so we did not use it. The pool is not private and is used by the owners as well who live right next door, but they were also very quiet. A nice apartment.

Gîte la canopée is the perfect place for enjoying the tranquility of the French countryside whilst still being within 3km of the vibrant town of Duras with it’s many bars, restaurants, artisan crafts, a great night market. Château Duras is magnificent. The Gîte is very well equipped with every convenience. Fixtures and fittings are of a very high standard, including a very comfortable bed. There is a private terrace overlooking woodland which is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The pool is sublime and completely private, a real treat. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful without being at all intrusive. Sandra kindly arranged a ‘Degustation’ with her neighbouring winemaker which was very enjoyable and she had many suggestions for things to see and do in the region. We highly recommend this piece of paradise.
