Despite being a dated historic building the rooms were clean and the hotel was tidy. I used to live in Dunedin and The Leviathan wouldn't have been a place I'd have recommended to anyone - until I stayed in it. If you're after five star luxury then this isn't for you, but if you want a clean, tidy and historically interesting building to stay in at a good price and great location then go for it. Would recommend wandering about the place and admiring the old photos and suchlike, the dining room is as impressive as it is old. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
