We have been holidaying in the area for a number of years and I have to say this was one of the most restful holidays I've had in a long time although we did have the most amazing weather. The apartment is the perfect size for a couple. Parking is easy and allocated to the cottage and there is plenty of space for any size of car. The cottage is accessed via a courtyard of other properties but there is lots of privacy. The owners have thought of everything. There is a fully contained little garden looking onto a field and woodland and some lovely walking around the estate. There are two lochs on the grounds with several follies that are hugely interesting. We loved Dalswinton Barony Church. It was so striking and the replica steamboat was also very interesting. The bed was very comfy, shower and central heating easy to use. Everything was clean, spacious and well laid out. To say this is just outside of Dumfries it is still very rural and quiet and was really delightful.

This cottage, situated on the Dalswinton Estate, is exceptional. There is not one thing about it that we could fault, apart from the fact that we couldn't stay longer! We had family staying at a nearby hotel and when they saw our accommodation (at a fraction of the price of their hotel) they were green with envy.
