Our favourite place that we stayed in Sri Lanka. The family that run this hotel are so kind. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. We opted for the home cooked evening meals and they were so delicious. Make sure to have them when you stay. The dhal curry was a favourite of ours. We were also fortunate enough to experience the monkeys climbing onto the balcony and peeking into our room which was hilarious. We visited Udawale safari a week before staying and didn’t get anywhere near as close to the animals compared to staying here. It was a highlight of our trip. Apparently they show a few times a week, but are really shy. Dickwella beach is a 2 minute walk and we genuinely preferred it to Hiriketiya beach. It was much less crowded, you could easily get a sun lounger and you can swim with turtles. You also had the option of getting a taxi into Hiriketiya town centre easily enough. The room was spacious and it had hot water which was refreshing. The view from the room was also very special, when golden hour, hits the sun peeks through the palm trees. We then travelled from here back to Colombo which was really simple incase this helps anyone: - Catch the 334 just opposite the homestay to Matara this cost us 104 LKR each. - Then catch one of the highway express buses to Colombo fort bus station this cost us 1080 LKR each.

The hosts were kind and we had delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts. If you would like to feel the culture in the southern parts of Sri Lanka, this place and in house food would be an ideal choice.

The area was very quiet both day and night. The host was very welcoming and the breakfast was different every day.
