They accommodated our wish to check in early so we could attend a funeral. The breakfast included in the prices was superb. The Staff were all very friendly and couldn't do more to help.

Lovely staff, made me feel welcome. Nice breakfast, good food in general and their beer selection was interesting. Exactly what you would think of a decent welcoming pub with nice rooms and good food.

We had the family room no23 on the 2nd floor. Whilst there were only two of us this offered a lot of space for our stay. The beds were comfortable but being at the front of the hotel it was noisy with traffic and late night party goers. Also the room is tired and is showing signs of needing to be refurbished. Extractor fan was not working in bathroom and no window to open to help. Very warm room overall. Bedding and towels were lovely - clean and crisp. Staff were friendly too. Value for money? At £125 sorry no it wasn’t. The whole place needs to be loved again with an injection of cash. Breakfast was fine but interesting choice of decor with matching bailer twine for curtain tie backs at all the windows and a need for a deep clean. Wouldn’t take much to get rid of the cobwebs!

The staff were really helpful and friendly, and overall a great experience! Comfortable room, tea/coffee etc was great, and we had a fantastic evening meal in the bar - amazing desserts!

As soon as we arrived , we were warmly greeted , explaining everything we needed to know. The hotel exceeded everything. Our room , we just loved it , so comfortable. Breakfast 💯. We loved the old signing in books dating back to 1he 1920s. We definitely come back again.

The Bear is right in the centre of town, so handy for anyone wanting to see the local attractions (museum and locks, for example). Despite being an old coach inn, the rooms have been furnished to a very good standard, We had an evening meal there as well as the included breakfast the following morning - both excellent. Good parking facilities at the rear (register your vehicle as soon as you check in).
