The property is located on the edge of Sinharaja National park, with an entrance just 800 metres away. Our apartment, with full glass fronted wall allowed us to view all the flora and fauna of the forest we were nestled within. Our host Janith and his wonderful family were fabulous and extremely attentive. Janith collected us from our previous stay in Udawalawe - a few hours drive away and I have to say it was the safest I have felt with a driver since arriving in Sri Lanka (some two weeks previous) - as a result we also booked Janith to drive us to Mirissa after our stay at his property. The drive was relaxed and Janith was very accommodating of what must have seemed like our constant questions about Sri Lanka, its culture and history. In total we spent nearly 5 hours travelling with Janith and we learnt a lot. Upon arrival we were greeted by Janith’s family, our luggage and bags were all taken from the car for us and placed in our room, we were given a refreshing fruit juice whilst we signed in. We had already booked a Sinharaja tour with someone else before we had secured our accommodation and we really wished we had realised that this could have been booked with Janith - throughout our stay we would get a What App message to tell us when there was something to see around the complex - snake, monkeys, birds - he was extremely knowledgable and articulate with an excellent grasp of english language. There are tea and coffee facilities in the room along with several bottles of water. The bathroom is well equipped (shampoo, shower gel etc) and water is hot. Our bed was huge and super comfortable with extra blankets if required in the cupboard. The waterfall nearby was extremely calming and helped for a restful sleep. We chose to eat in the restaurant - overlooking the forest. All food is cooked fresh to order by Janith’s lovely wife and we found it to be exceptionally good.

We had a wonderful stay at Sinharaja Kurulu Ella! The view from the room was mesmerising! We saw tropical birds and monkeys whilst eating delicious meals. The hosts were lovely and passionate about the nature, animals and reptiles that we could find in the forest surrounding the hotel. The guided tour in the rainforest is also something we would recommend. The guide had in depth knowledge about what we could find and see in the forest! We would highly recommend a stay at the eco resort.

We had an amazing stay at this Eco resort for two nights. What an experience! We stayed in the room with windows looking out to the rainforest, waterfall and monkeys-very special. Beds were very comfortable and renovated bathroom was lovely. Janeth and his wife are lovely people. Janeth took us on a trek to the rainforest, this also included a jeep ride and so much information about the animals and the surrounding area. Great view before we arrived at the rainforest. He helped my 60 year old body up steep steps etcWe ate two breakfasts and dinners and all four were delicious. The eating are is beautiful- like a treehouse in the rainforest. However, steps down to room are very steep and be prepared for leeches on arrival if arriving in the wet season

Amazing location, amazing room, wonderful local food (we are vegan so they provided amazing vegan options), the couple in charge of the hotel was very nice and friendly.
