“Calm and relaxed”

The location is amazing, Merle and Bouk are great hosts and accommodated our requirement to store motorbikes on site. Merle had left lemon drizzle cake which was lovely

“An absolute gem!! 💎 x x”

Loved everything about this stay. We are so lucky to have got to stay in this wonderful lodge, it had everything you could need, and the most amazing views! So peaceful! The hosts made us feel so welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. I’m already looking through the diary so we can come back!

“Highly recommend as a base to explore the forest park”

We had a wonderful stay at the lodge. It was in a peaceful location and the balcony was ideal for looking at the views as well as the starry skies. We got very lucky with having two clear nights in a row for stargazing. Merle was very welcoming and we loved the surprise homemade lemon cake! There was a plethora of information relating to the surrounding areas and activities to do etc. Lodge was very cosy and tidy with a variety of kitchen appliances and utensils to ensure a good self-catering stay.

“Beautiful stay in the countryside, access to brilliant walks and only an hour from Ayr”
20 May 2024
I liked the decor of the lodge. The lodge is away from the main property and is surrounded by trees and bushes so you have plenty of privacy with a beautiful view. The drive to and from the Lodge to all of our activities was a sight in itself and the cattle near the roads were a cute and entertaining sight for us coming from Glasgow. The kitchen/bathroom in the lodge is more than adequate. There were plenty of utensils. Thanks to the information provided by the hosts, we were able to explore New Galloway and their cosy art/community hub the Catstrand. We had a particularly warm day and we travelled to Ayr beach. We also managed to explore the Galloway forest park which had varying levels of difficulties for trails and sights to see along the way. I highly recommend the restaurants ‘Tempura’ near Morrisons in Ayr if you’re passing on the way down (their prawn tempura was fresh and a generous portion for the small) and Picollo Italia in Moniaive—their fish stew was also brilliant and the service was wonderful. The WiFi was fast enough for us to stream movies and TV shows at night with ease.
