We arrived quite late to the hotel, as it was nearly midnight. The check-in process was straight forward and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were shown to a room that, unfortunately had a strong damp musty smell to it. We complained about this to reception and they very quickly moved us to another room which was much better. Our room was comfortable and well-equipped, with a very comfortable and good-sized bed, modern bathroom, and useful amenities such as a kettle, ironing board, and hairdryer. The soundproofing was fairly good, though we could sometimes hear others guests in the adjacent rooms. Breakfast was included in our stay and offered a decent variety, including hot options, cereals, pastries, and fresh fruit. The dining area was clean and well-maintained, and staff were attentive in replenishing items. The hotel is conveniently located within a three or six minute walk from East Croydon train station (depending on which entrance to the station you opt for) which has direct trains to Victoria Station, London Bridge, and Gatwick Airport (among other locations). The hotel is also located across the street from the Whitgift Centre shopping centre. While the shopping centre itself has seen better days, it includes a large Marks and Spence and Waterstones, which fit our needs perfectly. For anything else the Shopping Centre leads to Croydon's North End which has several other shops, including a House of Fraser. Considering this was among the most affordable options we came across for this time of year, I would say that the Hampton by Hilton offered us incredibly good value for money, and we will certainly stay here again.

I loved everything about this place from the moment I walked through the front door. The warm welcome at reception. The ambiance and cleanliness of the place. The room itself was of a very high standard. I love the security of the place. Its proximity to everything around you.
