The very friendly hosts and a complimentary room upgrade made the experience perfect. I loved our room - it had great amenities and a selection of inspirational coffee-table books to browse through and flip through. They served a very nice breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere in the house's beautiful living room. Omelette and juice were quite tasty.

Highbury Guesthouse was exactly the kind of place I look for when I’m in Colombo: quiet, thoughtful, and run by people who seem to move at a calmer frequency than the rest of the city. From the moment I arrived, there was an ease to everything: no fuss, no rush, just a gentle, grounded hospitality that immediately made me feel settled. The house itself has a peaceful, almost meditative quality, surrounded by greenery that softens the edges of the day. But what really stayed with me were the people. They were consistently calm, patient, and genuinely helpful in a way that never felt performative. Whether it was offering guidance, arranging something at short notice, or simply checking in with a quiet kindness, they created an atmosphere where you can actually relax.
