“Lovely warm welcoming stay with fantastic scenery”
15 Jan 2025
A very warm welcome was received on arrive. The room was ready as requested and lovely and warm. It was very snowy when we arrived and wonderful Scenery. Perfect for walkers and out door people in the shadow of mam tor. Approx 20 mins walk into Castleton but we didn’t mind it wrapped up warm In the snow. Would highly recommend for a perfect relaxing stay within the Derbyshire region.

“Fantastic stay”

We spend 2 days in Castleton. The hosts at the farm were very friendly and welcoming. The room was cozy and comfortable. There is a quite big dinig room that we were welcomed to use outside of breakfast time, for example if we wanted to bring take-away food in. The breakfast ( opted for full English) was absolutely delicious with eggs from the farm and meat from the local butcher. Castleton village is just a throw away and one can walk to it. The George Inn was a fantastic place with absolutely delicious food. Can't wait to go back :)

“100% recommend”

We had a wonderful stay at Dunscar Farm. We usually stay in hotels when travelling so this was our first experience of staying in a B&B. We stayed in the twin room which was so comfy, spotlessly clean and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. They had thought of everything from the toiletries in the en-suite to a little bowl of chocolates by the bed, it just felt so welcoming. Every morning, they provided a beautifully cooked breakfast, made to order and a selection of cereals, fruit and juices. As a single mum that doesn't drive and travelling with my teenage son, I was nervous to stay somewhere so rural but I needn't be. The hosts were so kind and helpful throughout our stay. The location is also great if you like walking. Dunscar Farm is literally at the bottom of Mam Tor and perfectly placed for beautiful walks and hikes with incredible views of Hope Valley. The village of Castleton is about a 20 minute walk away and has everything you'd need with little shops, a visitor centre and multiple pubs serving fantastic food to warm you up at the end of the day and all were reasonably priced. I'd definitely recommend a visit to Peak Cavern too, the 'Devils Arse' which is a short walk from Dunscar Farm and a great afternoon out. We sadly had to cut our stay short due to a severe weather warning which threatened to disrupt train travel back to London and they couldn't have been more understanding and helpful, allowing us to check out a little later that morning, offering to drive us to the station and refunding our last night which meant I didn't have to panic about the extortionate cost of changing our train tickets. Every worry I had, they completely squashed and I cannot thank them enough. I would and already have, 100% recommend staying at Dunscar Farm and will definitely visit again. Thank you!

“Cosy stay with fantastic hosts”

The room was lovely and cosy, even against the stormy weather outside. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They even went as far as to offer a free lift into Castleton, and provided the number for a helpful taxi for our late return after midnight on New Year's Eve. They were relaxed about a slightly late check-out time, and seemed to sincerely care about every guest's wellbeing during their stay. Really can't recommend this BnB high enough!
