Traveller reviews

“Lovely stay in quiet location.”
29 Jul 2025
Lovely location outside of town in the countryside, about 15 minutes drive from Central Cambridge. Nice quiet area. Easy parking and plenty of it. Comfortable bed and nice powerful shower. The pool looked nice, though we didn't use it as the weather wasn't that good.

“A perfect countryside retreat - comfortable, full of character, peaceful and cosy.”

The property itself is exceptional. Loads of character, unique rooms with lovely countryside views. The location is perfect for a trip to Cambridge centre and has easy access to the motorway. Good restaurants nearby and lovely countryside walks direct from the farm.

“Charming hotel in rural location”
27 Jul 2025
Exceptional surroundings, acres of greenery, mature trees and surprisingly quiet given the proximity to the motorway. The room was fine, everything you need, closet, hangers, iron, hairdryer, good-sized TV, tea, coffee and a kettle, beds were comfortable, en suite bathroom was clean, shower was great. Staff were friendly and efficient, We bought the breakfast and that didn't disappoint - full English plus all the extras, toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt etc. There are also cheaper options, and I believe a snack bar somewhere on the premises, but we didn't take advantage of that. There is an outside heated swimming pool available to guests. We took the train to Cambridge and it is a fair distance from the station (4 miles) on the other side of the town, too far to walk unless you're fit and travelling very light, but a relatively short taxi ride, there are also a couple of bus routes that pass the gates. Coming by car, the hotel entrance is yards from the motorway exit ramp, plenty of parking on-site, and just up the road there is a park and ride with regular buses into the town centre, which is also close enough to walk to on a nice day - pavements all the way into town, no hills, maybe 40 minutes. There is also a lovely country pub - The Plough - with a fantastic food menu, a 15 minute walk across the fields behind the hotel, the path clearly signposted and a nice way to work up an appetite. Overall, I definitely recommend Rectory Farm - a solid 9+ out of 10.
