Every time I travel to Cairns, I love to stay in this hostel. This place has a holiday feel with its large swimming pool, volleyball court, and outdoor bar. The rooms and bathrooms are always very clean. The staff is also very friendly and always accommodating. Summer house is one of the best hostels I've stayed in Australia. I recommend it to anyone who wants to come to Cairns.

Liked that you got your own kitchen utensils, walk in fridges were good, very close to the esplanade and only a short 20mins walk to the pier/into town. Rooms are small and basic - if you don’t mind that it’s good. I was ins 4-bed female dorm and early in bed, early up as I was here for GBRC - was not too noisy like in other hostels. Average guest age is between 20-30 though I would say.

Nice surprise to be upgraded to private room. Free bike rental, shuttle to and from town, lots of cooking space with decent fridge and storage space with good toilets and showers, with an added bonus of community WhatsApp group for updates and your own personal towels and cutlery provided. Use of paid (a few dollars) washers and dryers and good discounts provided at the bar and tours/events.
