I stayed at Mayan Monkey Hostel and really liked its great location and cleanliness. However, my first room (dorm) had a strange smell, but thankfully, I was able to switch rooms without any issues. I also had dinner at the hostel, which took quite a long time to be served. In the morning, I wanted to order breakfast, but the staff seemed more focused on cleaning behind the bar than taking orders. Even though they had noticed me waiting, it took me speaking up after 10 minutes for them to take my order. I would have expected more attentiveness.

Close to harbour and many restaurants. Ideal for boat tours. Super friendly staff and great rooftop pool. Even walking distance to a smaller nice public beach.

The facilities were pretty new and very clean. I liked the fact they had “quite strict” rules within the dorms to ensure everyone’s right to rest. I appreciated they offer “only-females dorms”. I didn’t get to join any of the activities they offered but it looked like a very nice environment specially for solo travellers.
