Kathryn “Does what is says on the tin! It’s not a hotel, it’s farm, high up …in the hills!”

The charming Quaker’s Carriage at Coity Bach Farm is a very special retreat indeed! It pays homage to a much simpler way of living and, if you allow it, makes for a truly satisfying and comforting stay. When we saw the images provided, we knew it was exactly the escape we were looking for. We were not put off by other people’s remarks or reviews, as everyone has different expectations and comfort levels, which can sometimes be a little unrealistic. It’s clearly advertised as being on a working farmstead, so you can make an educated guess as to what that entails—in our opinion, anyway! One of our favourite aspects of the experience was witnessing the comings and goings of fascinating animals right on our doorstep. The views of the mountains are truly stunning at any time of day! The accommodation itself is perfectly suited for two adults (and a dog) and has everything you reasonably need for a relaxing getaway. The craftsmanship and aesthetic of the carriage are exceptional throughout, and it is in close proximity to the utilities. There are friendly cats and dogs roaming the land, and, if you’re lucky, even a toad or two. Once we found the other shower block—contrary to some reviews—we discovered they were the hottest campsite showers we had ever experienced! If you’re concerned about your trainers, worried about your upload speeds, and can’t quite handle the realities of being on a working farm, then I wouldn’t bother booking. But if you are easy-going, love outdoor living, and are able to go with the flow, then this is the place for you! We felt so welcomed and reassured when we arrived that it was actually very hard to leave. You have free rein to walk around the fields and surrounding areas, where you can see pigs, sheep, and cows. The staff have a warm vibe and a laid-back attitude, and we felt we could approach them easily. We were even lucky enough to sample some sausages and eggs produced on site, and we were not disappointed.
