The house itself was beautiful, the neighbourhood very peaceful, the room with tatami comfortable and the recommendations of restaurants and onsen were great !

For the price I paid, my expectations weren’t very high. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a very nicely refurbished traditional house, complete with a beautiful little garden, and a very comfortable private room in which I stayed. The lady who owns the property checked me in and was exceedingly helpful and welcoming throughout my stay. There is also a little onsen across the road from the guest house. It’s very basic, but an authentic “neighbourhood style” place that only costs ¥200 to use. Definitely worth a visit!

One of my favourite stays during my 2-week trip around Kyushu. This is a 100-year-old traditional-style house that has been converted into a delightful guesthouse with plenty of character. The two ladies I met running the place were incredibly friendly and understanding of my limited Japanese language skills. The room had a really comfy bed that, despite the worries of the staff, was more than big enough for a 180cm guy to sleep. The bathroom was huge, the living room was really spacious, and it was overall a very traditional experience. The owners were kind enough to look after my bags during my day trip to Oita, and even offered to drive me to and from the station.

Very clean and friendly hosts. Our rooms were very nice, with plenty of space. Great to stay in a traditional style accommodation. Location is fine, not too far of a walk from the train station and 10-15 minutes from bus stops. There is a big, well-equipped kitchen. Shower facilities are very nice, make sure you bring a towel.
