Ida “Lovely homestay by the river”

This was the first place we stayed during our trip to Sri Lanka and it was so nice. Busy street in the front yard and quiet beautiful river view in the back yard. Theres two rooms on the second floor with a shared kitchen and a balcony. Their son arranged a river safari for us and it was great. Breakfast was really good. There's four options that you can choose from and I recommend to try all of them if you can. The owner was so lovely and friendly. We felt so welcome.

Villa Roy was one of the nicest guesthouse/homestays we have stayed in. The room was clean and comfortable, with good storage, and large, modern bathroom. Outside the room was a kitchen/living area shared with the other guest room. Having a fridge, kettle, cups, plates, cutlery, etc, and a pleasant seating area, was really appreciated. Breakfast (and other meals) can be served here, but a much better option is outside by the river. Breakfast was delicious, with four different options, both Sri Lankan and western. We had one dinner too, was was very tasty too (and reasonably priced). It really is a lovely setting to enjoy food or just to chill out. The location was nice and quiet, but only an easy walk/short tuk tuk ride from beaches, restaurants and shops Overall, what made Villa Roy so special for us was the lovely host family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a welcoming, comfortable, value for money homestay.

Very friendly family and clean rooms. The garden was very peaceful with a beautiful view over the river and a delicious breakfast!

This is a little treasure. Set back from the sea a little and next to railway line( but perhaps only 2 trains during the night and muffled). You have the upstairs rooms. Outside there is a garden overlooking lagoon. Breakfast and dinner served on a sheltered patio.v peaceful Food was home made and excellent Host Geeta, charming and interesting and interested. An excellent stay
