I spent four nights at The Empire and, overall, left happy—but with a few caveats future guests should know. What impressed me: Warm, attentive staff – Every interaction, from the bell desk to housekeeping, was genuinely welcoming. Staff anticipated needs without being intrusive, and a cheerful front‑desk agent even secured a complimentary upgrade for me. Spacious room with a view – The seaview suite was enormous by any standard. High ceilings, a full dressing area, and floor‑to‑ceiling windows meant I never felt cramped. Waking up to the South China Sea was a real highlight. Pool and leisure options – The main lagoon‑style pool is immaculate, with plenty of loungers and shaded spots. I also tried the bowling alley and cinema; both were great fun on a rainy afternoon. Free upgrade – Being moved from a garden‑view deluxe to a seaview suite set a positive tone for the stay and spoke well of the hotel’s service culture.

We faced some issues during our stay, such as a bad smell, yellowish water in the room, and confusion over the breakfast billing due to the deposit. However, the issues were resolved, and we felt very relieved upon receiving a handwritten letter from Yusrah, the Duty Manager. It made us feel truly cared for. Although the facilities were outdated, we will definitely come back because of the staffs

Huge Over The Top Complex without guests and food options. Although the place is grand and the rooms are nice and the pools are great - the place lacks a cozy welcoming feel, partially due to you feeling like you are the only couple in a ghost town - however at a suitable, clean, resort level this is all Brunei has to offer. Yes you can take alcohol as long as you drink it privately in your hotel room.
