Mark “Pleasant stay at a very unique old water mill”

We stayed two nights with three people in late June at this location. It is an old water mill (i.e., really thick old walls), converted into a vacation home, with a very unique interior design using old water mill equipment, next to a river, adjacent to a hundreds of years old bridge. A very charming and spacious location for us, fully equipped, and for us a perfect location to explore this part of the Douro river. We wanted a more "isolated" place not directly in the Douro valley, and this is exactly what we got. Thanks to the host for the perfect check-in and support, and the additional background info about this unique place. Would we come back? For sure.

This this is one of the most charming houses I've ever been. It's located in the former mill house in the midst of the beautiful nature. The house is very well equipped with all needed appliances to prepare food and live autonomously. The bonus bottle wine was very good.

The cottage and it’s location are amazing. It’s an old mill cottage that has been tastefully renovated using the original features. It’s one of the most interesting places I have ever stayed in. The train up the Douro valley goes from the local station, a short drive away. Don’t forget to ask for senior tickets if you are over 65. The restaurant O Alpendre is only a couple of km’s away and is a lovely dining experience at a reasonable price. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.
