The fine print
Please note that The Chancellor on Hobson requires NZD 250 credit card pre-authorization or cash deposit upon check-in to cover any incidental charges. This will be collected by credit card, debit card or cash. You will be reimbursed on check-out. Your deposit will be refunded in full by the same method of deposit payment, subject to an inspection of the room. Pre-Authorisations - Under normal circumstances, banks should be releasing this hold when the pre-authorisation has been cancelled by us. Occasionally some banks are unable to release the hold immediately and may reflect on your account for 4 - 7 working days (depending on the bank of issue). The hold will then automatically disappear from your account meaning you would not see money coming in - the pending transaction would go away.
Guests are required to provide a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. We do not accept credit card/debit card payments over the phone.

The room was huge, full kitchen, couch/lounge area, windows that open for fresh air. A sliding door that opens out onto a balcony. Desk to work at. Plenty of space and only $137 for the night. Really great value for money and the location was brilliant, so close to the viaduct. I would definitely stay again.

The staff allowed us to store our luggage after check out, until we could walk it over to the cruise ship. There is lots to do within walking distance of the hotel.

Everything was convenient, checked in late as was at an event that had finished late around 2am. Secured a parking and staff were really nice and helpful. Check-in and check-out was smooth and had no issues.

Great location, the centre of everything easy walking distance to all of the tourist sites, restaurants and bars in good size apartment, comfortable and clean. Only downside is it is very basic amenities
