In rural Belgium you will find this little gem hidden behind red brick walls in the Wallonian town of Rebaix. The B&B was originally an old pottery, hence the name La Poterie, but has been tastefully refurbished over the last two years to a very high standard. E-mail correspondance with La Poterie was a doddle, the landlady is fluent in English if you don't master the French language, so my fellow travellers and I felt comfortable before departing Denmark. We were met with great hospitality by the landlady, rooms were large with comfy beds and nice shower facilities, and her breakfast was an orgy in homemade jam and bread, fresh fruit, boildes eggs, a variety of cheese, salamis, yoghurt, cereals - you couldn't have asked for more. Our bicycles (we were racing De Ronde/Tour of Flandres) were stored inside a locked garage and parking was availabale right outside the main intrance. Nearest city is Ath (highly reccomendable) some 5 km away where you wil find a vivid range of cafés, restaurants and bars to everyones tsate. Otherwise, you can drive to Oudenarde (Flanders) or Mons (Wallonia), both cities are located some 30 km away from Rebaix. If I ever need a stop over in Wallonia I wouldn't hesitate to return to La Poterie. Highy recommendable.
