The new inn is described as quirky and yes it is, but quirky in a good way. An old building that. preserves the best of the traditional country pub. Fancy it is not. but the welcome from owner Pete is genuine and nothing seemed to be too much. trouble. The accommodation is above basic falling into the adequate range and the en- suite in our room , while small was clean and had an excellent shower. An excellent evening meal followed by good crack in the bar with owner, other guests and locals. A hearty breakfast completed the stay and one can park right outside the entrance . The owner has recently taken back the New Inn into his personal management and is busy with some renovation. The beer is excellent to boot. Whether a one. night stop , as we did on our way home to Scotland or a few days walking in the Cumbrian fells you'll enjoy your stay in this unusual inn
