Near the beautiful River Eden, in the ancient town of Appleby in Westmorland, this traditional 17th century coaching inn offers free Wi-Fi and en suite rooms.
The Royal Oak Appleby is rated as a 4-star Silver Inn by VisitBritain, the tourist board of the United Kingdom. Fully refurbished during 2008 and early 2009, all of the rooms have high-quality beds and en suite shower rooms.

Thank you for our lovely stay at the Royal Oak. It was a perfect place to rest after a day of walking (both me annd my friend were walking the Lady Anne’s Way) and the staff, food and bed were fantastic, super tasty and incredibly comfortable! Thank you for helping to charge my phone too, as I’d not brought with me a USB plug.

Lovely place and staff great overall though didn’t need to hear one moaning to her parents about other customers. Just need to appreciate the audience. Very dog friendly. Breakfast great.

Lovely character building with comfortable modern rooms. The bed was so comfy it was like sleeping on a cloud! Staff were great - we had to leave early so missed breakfast but we were given a packed lunch to take away which was a really nice touch.
