The property is new and looks in a very good condition. Our room overlooked the Dead Sea. It was breathtaking. The pool was nice. The breach was great. The restaurant offered excellent food.

After a rocky start which nearly saw us leave before checking in, our stay at the Porto Dead Sea ended up being fabulous. Arrival was challenging as nobody on the front desk or security staff spoke a word of English, and even my broken Arabic failed to connect meaningfully. Once Mohammed, the new operations director, arrived who spoke immaculate English, all misunderstandings were resolved and he went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. The apartment was large and had the perfect view of the Dead Sea, as did all apartments. This isn’t a traditional hotel and more an aparthotel, although does have a restaurant and large pool. Alcohol is also served, not a guarantee in every hotel in Jordan. The highlight was obviously the Dead Sea experience which is easily accessible by simply walking down a few steps onto the beach, which is definitely not the case in most hotels on this area. Met by Raket with a broad grin he explained to us what to do. This involved 10 minutes lying on our backs in the sea, ensuring we didn’t flip onto our fronts. This was a unique experience. Raket then covered us from head to toe in Dead Sea mud which we kept on for approx 15 minutes before returning to the sea to rinse it off, being careful not to get any water in our eyes. The next phase of this remarkable treatment was to be covered again, but this time in concentrated salt solution. Again this was rinsed in the sea before rinsing down completely with a fresh water hose. The whole experience lasted for about 40 minutes and as a once in a lifetime opportunity for most people was truly memorable for all the right reasons. Raket was brilliant and a great ambassador to this growing enterprise which Mohammed explained included more apartments, an even larger pool and a proper hotel. With people like these two involved there is every reason this will be a great success. There were some challenges, not least the lack of English spoken by the vast majority of staff.

Great sea view and balcony, with good beach close by (unlike some other dead sea hotels), staff gave us mud and salt scrub. Great setup if you have young kids - bunks and sofa bed, separate parents room with own nice ensuite, kitchen with regular oven / stove / microwave, clothes drying rack. Playground right beside the kids pool. Friendly and helpful staff, nice restaurant and shisha bar.
