Traveller reviews

“A comfortable resort with a lot of pricey add ons”
07 Aug 2024
The resort has some lovely activities for children - turtle feeding, crab grab, fishing. For two children the 1hr crab grab session was in the region of USD 100 after gratuity. But we very much enjoyed it. We paid extra for an executive suite with a sea view and it was excellent. We were very comfortable ands had lots of space (including storage space). My only complaint would be that the kitchenette had no plates, bowls, cutlery, nothing. But we visited Harris Teeter two minutes down the road and bought disposable items and breakfast cereals so that we could keep costs down by having breakfast in the room. There are some lovely restaurants you can visit in the surrounding area, especially the old town where there are some great gelato shops (Fantastic Fudge being one). The restaurants outside the resort are much more affordable and authentic (Cucina South, Lagniappe, Arte Pizza, Espana, The Boathouse). Timotis Seafood Shak was great for fantastic informal seafood. Some of the restaurants have live music too which we loved. I would recommend you absolutely need a car to stay at this resort. The shops in the old town are lovely to stroll around in the late afternoon before dinner and there's also a crazy gold in town. Parking never seems to be an issue. The hotel concierge was excellent and provided my daughter with a laminated sheet to help her identify shark teeth. All requests we made to reception were immediately fulfilled - extra towels, shower gel etc. The resort is right on the beach. We never struggled to get a sunbed by the pool and towels are plentiful.
