I definitely wouldn't go back here to be honest.. don't take me wrong.. Barbara is a really nice person.. she's helpful and that's why I would give this place an OK rating.. but honestly it's far from the city centre so if you don't have a car.. God bless you.. check in is at 8pm and check out at 10am.. check out time is WAY TOO EARLY.. there's a kitchen and after we checked in we were told the kitchen doesn't work.. I had to message Barbara that all I need is some hot water and so she told me how to switch on the gas.. the view isn't that great either so I don't know why the reviews said that the view is good.. the only good thing about this place is Barbara.. she's extremely kind.. but I didn't like the place.. the bed is very hard too..

A very nice location high over the sea, completely off the bustle of Amalfi proper. Barbara's place is beautifully fixed up in traditional style, but without any of the wear-and-tear you might expect. Barbara herself is a delight, super helpful, proactive, and speaks good English, so the communication was easy. Some words to set expectations: Casa Barbara is located in Tovere, which is part of Amalfi, but quite a bit outside of the town. It is reachable by bus without too much hassle and an acceptable schedule, but *not on Sundays*. Barbara offered to shuttle us at a very reasonable expense, but being city dwellers it came as a bit of a surprise. Tovere does not have any amenities, it's just a couple of houses, the nearest Trattoria seem to be in the next villages up or down the hillside, both of which would be a bit of a hike. If you plan accordingly, this is not a detraction; the site is beautiful and the uninterrupted quiet is very relaxing.
