Great location in the centre of village, very comfortable apartment, well kept. Plenty of walks in the area, some flatter than others. Beautiful scenery, good food, lovely people.

Beautiful, old mill, creatively renovated to make a super comfortable flat for 4. Excellent host who greeted us on arrival.

Alston itself is a very quiet and remote place, its nestled in between other tiny villages and surrounded by moors. Surprisingly it has all you need in terms of shops and cafes in the day time and is peaceful at night. The house is lovely and spacious and the master bedroom overlooks a gothic church. The house has all the facilities you would need as a family, the parking is ample for a large estate car. The hosts can be reached quickly and they are polite and helpful. The locals are very warm and welcoming, make sure you say hello to the neighbours if you walk by them, it took me a while to adjust to the friendly people as coming from the London area i rarely look up from my feet but it's great to be in a place with a friendly vibe.

It was clean, well laid out with lovely view of the church. There was everything provided that you needed, plus bread and other goods from local businesses. Nice and quiet, but with quick access to the town and amenities.
